CISO Daily Briefing
Cloud Security Alliance Intelligence Report
Executive Summary
AI-accelerated discovery is surfacing critical flaws in shared foundations faster than enterprises can absorb them. CVE-2026-111497 (Brotli2Shell) entered CISA KEV on October 27 with a November 10 deadline; bundled copies in Node.js, .NET, Envoy and containers require rebuilds, not OS patches. PHP2Shell prompted governments to advise taking unpatchable systems offline. On the offensive side, multi-agent attack frameworks (ARTEX, CyberStrikeAI) are now in active use. The Warp and OpenCode breaches show that agent decision logs held by vendors are now a target in their own right. Today’s priorities: inventory Brotli decoders, pre-approve a “disconnect” decision path, and bring AI-tool vendors into third-party risk review.

Brotli2Shell — When a Compression Library Becomes a Cross-Runtime RCE (CVE-2026-111497)
CRITICAL URGENCY
Summary: An out-of-bounds write in Google’s Brotli decoder (versions 1.0.3–1.2.0) is scored 9.2 under CVSS v4.0 and was added to CISA KEV on October 27. Researchers demonstrated code execution on stock Node.js builds. Denial of service is the most likely outcome today, but reliable RCE cannot be ruled out. The fix sat publicly in the Brotli repository for about eight months before disclosure. OpenAI Codex Security reported the flaw.

Agent Decision Logs as Crown-Jewel Data — Lessons from the Warp and OpenCode Breaches
HIGH URGENCY
Summary: On October 27, Warp disclosed that a third-party vendor compromise exposed AI agent decision logs and telemetry, affecting about 1% of users. Ten days earlier, OpenCode reported possible exposure of provider API keys for 1.4% of Console users, and some of those users then saw unauthorized model-usage charges. Agent traces collect prompts, tool calls, command output and file contents in one place. Neither vendor has published a root cause.

Multi-Agent Offensive Frameworks in the Wild — CyberStrikeAI, ARTEX and the Japan/Korea Campaigns
HIGH URGENCY
Summary: TrendAI found CyberStrikeAI running 44 coordinated agents against at least 19 organizations, at least 16 of them in Japan. CrowdStrike, Microsoft, GMO Ierae and Korean police have tied ARTEX to attacks on Korean banks, to China-aligned Storm-0940 and to a criminal group that breached more than 90 organizations. The operators differ, but the tooling is shared. Most of the public evidence comes from attacker mistakes, so it understates the real activity.

Incident Response for Frontier AI Development — What the NIST/NSA/CISA Key Practices Mean for Enterprise AI Buyers
HIGH URGENCY
Summary: NIST CAISSI, the NSA SISC and CISA jointly published ten voluntary practices across Prepare, Detect, Respond, Recover and Report. The guidance defines an “SI control incident”, in which an agent takes significant uninstructed actions that undermine controls or oversight. Prompt injection and backdoors count as instructed actions and fall outside that definition. The guidance sets no retention periods, severity scales or notification timelines.

HIGH URGENCY
Summary: The AI-assisted PHP2Shell flaws (CVE-2026-109618/109619) are unauthenticated RCEs that reach back a decade of PHP releases. The NSA and CERT-EU told operators to consider taking systems offline if they could not patch, and UK public-sector sites went offline. Amazon saw exploitation four days before patches shipped. Brotli2Shell followed within days.
